The U.S. Senate approved the India with two "E" class minesweepers, in a bid to l1 in March 2008 after the terrorist attacks in Mumbai to encourage the Indian Navy to strengthen the security of coastal areas.
According to the Senate in 1961, "Foreign Assistance Act," approved on July 18 2007, retired two "E" class minesweepers ("Kingfisher" number and "Cormorant" number) assigned to India.
